Question:
altissimo fingerings
I was trying to figure out some altissimo notes, but I cant figure out the fingerings for tem. Can someone help me with this problem please?:D 8-) :)

Answer:

This page has F#-A (with a billion different fingerings for each).
The next page has A#-C#...and so on.
I think this site has just about every imaginable fingering for any given altissimo note, and it also says what sax a fingering is of most use on.

Are you just beginning to explore altissimo? If so, you do not start with a fingering chart.

Begining altissimo
If you are just starting altissimo, how should you begin?

Answer:
Do you know the overtone series?

Answer:
No i do not know them. I have been playing for around three years and play tenor. Could you explane to me what they are?

Answer:
A quick web search on "overtone series sax" turned up this good page:

Answer:
Get yourself Eugene Rousseau's book 'Saxophone High Tones'. As someone above mentioned, it is not all about fingerings. Unlike the other notes on the saxophone, the altissimo area will not happen just by fingerings, and blowing overtones is a good place to start, Rousseau's book will take you through that. Another good work is by Robert Luckey ('Saxophone Altissimo' is my memory serves me right). You can also see Rascher's Book (Top Tones for Saxophone) which also deals with overtones, but I find it a bit archaic and Rousseau insists one set of fingerings do for all occasions and all sizes and types of saxophones, I do not agree with this.

Answer:
thanks
Hey, thanks for all the tips. I already have the book by Roussea but thanks for the reccomendation anyway.

Answer:
The fingerings are just fine tuning. It's how you blow it. Try puckering a bit and pushing your tongue up towards the roof of your mouth to close off the airstream a bit. Just use the front F key and octave and blow this way and see how many different notes you can get. Then try it with the fingerings you pick up.

Answer:
I tryed the thing with the front f key and the octave and it was difficult but i will mess with it some more.

Answer:
Yay! good news! I got a altissimo high g today!!!! Thanks for all of you suggestions!

Answer:
Great! "G" is one of the hardest altissimo notes to hit.

Answer:
overtones.. uh. yea. i can't ever get the palm D to come out with low Bb..

Answer:
It is very frustrating for me, as well. I just can't seem to get above the Bb 2 octaves up from the low Bb.

Answer:
Gah! I'm new to these boards.. and fairly new to the saxophone-- I don't understand what ya'll mean by Overtones.. everytime i try to get a note out in the Altissimo, it always ends up being the high F...

Answer:
Once altissimo starts working with you, check out my fingering for altissimo all the way up to G4 on my post at 'How long did it take you to learn altissimo?' I put em there a while back.
