Stand for curved soprano
Question: Stand for curved soprano I just posted a note in the misc. accessories area asking about a stand for a curved soprano. I thought I'd alert readers here, too. I'd appreceiate any advice you have on this issue, so please check that thread and leave any responses there. Thanks!! Answer: check this out, i don't know if it's any good but you could probably tell better than i can Answer: You can buy one from or you can use the KM alto/tenor stand and bend the bow rest to fit your sop, its easy enough to do with your bare hands! Answer: I have found two very good stands for curved soprano. One is made by Meisel Music, who are known more for their bows and stands for strings. Their alto sax stand, #GAS, works well for curved soprano. I first became aware of it seeing it used by exhibitors at trade shows for their curved sopranos. Another excellent stand for curved sopranos is the one by Arbitor in the UK. It is listed in the accessories section in John Myatt's site as "ARBITER, curved soprano sax stand" and is in my opinion the best curved soprano stand available. Answer: I actually made my own curved sop stand out of an older standard model sax stand. I just bent the frame until it fit the bell, brute strength is rquired here and drilled another hole higher up to locate the lower rest section. It took all of about 10minutes to do this. If you're anyway handy with tools then doing this type of job will save you a lot of money. Answer: curved soprano stand I just received my new Arbiter curved soprano stand today from Myatt Music in the UK. It works great! Looks like maybe it was converted from a guitar stand......It feels much more secure on the new stand and I can put my old bent-in alto stand away.... Answer: Glad you like yours too, Joe. I think it's the best built stand I've ever seen. Answer: curved sop stand I just wished I could have found one locally! I bought a video at the same time, doesn't seem to want to play.....are English VCR's different? I don't get a picture and they talk and play faster than normal......maybe I should put some tea down my TeaV,.......... Answer: I think there are two different systems used for the TV signal, and that may be your problem. Answer: North America uses the NTSC system, and Europe uses the PAL video system. They are not compatible, although some universal players will play both. Answer: sax video Thanks for the scoop guys! Guess I'm out of luck and will have to chalk it up to a lesson learned. I'd send it back, but shipping probably costs more than the video. My bad... Answer: It is common for most video/ DVD players here to play NTSC and or PAL. Europe, Australia and Asia use PAL, the US uses NTSC. This makes perfect sense to someone, who it is I have no idea. You should be able to get a player which will play both. Answer: after reading the posts on the Arbiter stand for curved sop, I purchased online. it arrived today, very quickly, no issues with payment amount, and the stand works great. (I had been using a banana hanger made of steel that I purchased from someplace like Bed Bath and Beyond. it looked cool as hell because the sax is silver & gold, but the Arbiter is much better for live use.)
