Newest Soprillo improvements
1 Attachment(s) Benedikt Eppelsheim has recently improved the Soprillo (Piccolo soprano in Bb - one octave higher than the standard Bb soprano saxophone).
Some subtle changes in the octave mechanism have made the highest notes easier. Also, the keys now have pearls (real ones!) that make the horn very attractive, and it now looks more like a tiny soprano with a tipped bell.
The latest addition is a larger thumb rest that makes the saxophone feel more secure, even without a neck strap. Photo posted below:

Cost of a soprillo
If you email Benedikt Eppelsheim, he will send you the price of anything he makes in Euros. He can also give a good estimate of shipping. Any currency conversion website will give you the current value in US Dollars. I don't think Eppelsheim has raised his prices but actual cost has gone up because the value of the dollar is down.
I've forgotten what customs fees are, something like 4-5%, but it's comparable to state sales tax in a lot of places. Local delivery to your door is a little bit more but not much.

I also like the neck on the Eb contrabass. Looks like something a school teacher in the old days would use to handle unruly students.

Eppelsheim's disclaimer on the Soprillo is valid. You may not have to be a pro, but you have to practice. It's definitely not a starter horn - kind of like tryng to play piccolo before playing flute.
