Shure PSM 200 In-ear monitor

Question:
Shure PSM 200 In-ear monitor
Anyone have any experience with this particular model in-ear system? If so your thoughts/comments on it would be helpful. I'm looking at getting one and want to hear what people have to say about them. Thanks!

Answer:
I'm a strong advocate of in-ear monitor for sax; being able to hear yourself play promotes better articulation and dynamics, and I just enjoy the gig better. I'm playing in mostly amplified settings, and house monitoring is seldom adequate. In-ear monitoring is a way of taking care of yourself, and providing for ear protection as well.
I own a PSM200 but never use it. In-ear monitoring doesn't need to be wireless unless you're using a wireless mic. But if you do, you'll be wearing two body packs, one for the PSM200 and the other for the wireless mic! I sometimes go wireless (Sennheiser), so I had someone custom-make a portable headphone monitor for me. When I want to go wireless, I use it in conjuction with the wireless mic transmitter bodypack. I used this setup successfully over the last year, but it's kind of a pain to keep up with the batteries.
Recently, I opted to return to simplicity and reliability. These days, I use a Rolls PM50SOB personal monitor with my AT PRO35X mic, and a pair of $20 earbuds from Radio Shack. The PM50SOB will operate with battery or A/C adapter. The earbuds are high quality with foam cushioning for noise suppression. Sure, I've got a mic cable attached to me, but I'm not moving around all that much.

Answer:
Glad to hear you like the in-ears. I have been using earplugs, ear doc custom made them for me, and they are great. Problem is I can not hear the other horns and vocals thru the monitors that well with them. All I hear is me singing which isn't always that great!!!! I'm hoping the in-ears will block out the loudness of the drums and guitar, but still give me good quality sound for horns and vocals. I'm using a Samson Airline so if I went with the in-ears I would only be wearing one body pack. I can live with that. I do move around quite a bit during our show so I would def. need the wireless freedom. Thanks for your help! What kind of gigs did you use the in-ears on? Be well!

Answer:
I don't think that you'll ever go wrong with the Rolls WPM61 in ear, it's wireless, very small, and very cheap... I'm using it with me on every gig. Check it out and read the comments:

Answer:
I also use the Rolls PM50SOB personal monitor. I use the "mic thru" channel for my sax mic, and a line in for the vocal mix. Each has its own volume control, and it works great for me. I find I don't blow as hard trying to be heard.
I really don't like the feel of earbuds, so I use a different earpiece, in one ear only. That lets me hear the rest of the mix in my other ear.
Here's the earpiece I use

I've been using this setup for a couple of years, and it far surpasses the other monitor setups I've used. Now, all the vocalists in the group use a personal monitor and these earpieces - the harmonies are much better now.
I'm not a pro - just a weekend warrior, and this is what works for us. YMMV.

Answer:
Safesax, that earpiece look interesting, can you tell me the brand and the cost? I would like that earpiece to go with my wireless in-ear system.
Thanks,
Kenny.

Answer:
Kenny,
It's from MCM Electronics and I think they run a little over $5 each. The mode number is AR70038. I have also gotten them from Long's Electronics, but they are just the MCM units, marked up in price...
