Wiring help needed
Question: My SZ is wired as such I want to unsplit the 'buckers in the middle position and un-gang the volume pots. How would i do this? Answer: I just tried wiring the pickup leads to the middle lugs and the wires to the switch to the outside on the 2 volume pots, i was hoping this would ungang to the volume pots, but all it did was make bridge and middle positions not work... The neck pickup is sounding beautiful as usual though... I really need help here guys Answer: ...wht do you mean by 'un-gang' the pots?! ...to split the buckers you can use dpdt switch to gorund out the red/white connection on your buckers... Answer: ...wht do you mean by 'un-gang' the pots?! ...to split the buckers you can use dpdt switch to gorund out the red/white connection on your buckers... well you completely missed what i was saying... haha Okay... the Humbuckers are already split, but only in the middle position. I think i can handle undoing that. In the middle position, if you turn down one volume, both pickups are silenced, i want the two volumes to work as blend pots in the middle position. Meaning, i want it so that when i turn down the neck volume, im left with only the bridge pickup. I want it so that i can blend the 2, you know? Answer: ...oh hehehe...right i think i get it now... ...try swapping the 2 wires on each vol pot(green goes to middle lug instead and the other wire which was on middle lug ..goes to the end lug where the green wire used to be...) ...however...there will be more noise produced... Answer: it works like that already, but the reason you can't get both to work is i believe this: you're working the inner coils of both pickups, and one volume pot controls each. when one is all the way down, the signal gets shunted to ground. the other coil is affected because you've just put them both to ground by shunting one coil to ground, and both the coils are connected. the only way around this would be a rotary switch with: neck bucker - neck split - both split - bridge split - bridge bucker. that switch is a pain in the balls to solder to as well. not to mention all the goddamn terminals. How would i do this? ^^^^ missed that part. guitarcapo has it nailed. you need a different switch, or a way to figure out how that goofy thing is connected internally in your guitar. Answer: I did it!!! haha But now the volumne pots do not go down incrimentally... like... it kinda goes down and then theres a sudden drop off. I dont know if its the way its wired or the pots...
