Does a guitar like this exist?
Question: Hi, I'm looking for a guitar with these characteristics... but it seems I'm not able to find one, Here's what I'd like to have: 1- mahogany body 2- maple neck 3- easy access to the high frets, so I guess a neck-thru would be nice 4- orignal Floyd Rose tremolo 5- thin (and fast) neck 6- color: black, just back. no abalone on the body. 7- piackups for heavy/death/technical death metal Optionally, an ebony fretboard. I heard that the Jackson's are the "easiest" guitars to play, with that compound radus neck, and a very thin one too, I guess... basically I need a super fast neck. Thanks for your help. Answer: A Jackson SL2H-MAH would probably fit the bill, since it matches all the criteria you want. They have nice necks. Looks like the closest you can get to solid black as a finish is transparent flame maple, though. Check out Ibanezes and ESPs, too. Answer: Might be worth it to check out ESP/LTD. I think the mahogany/maple combination might be a bit tough as per your requirements, because neck-thru means the neck and body are the same material. However, if you can deal with a mahogany body AND neck, or alder body and neck, there are several options with Floyd. Answer: If your gonna go for a neck thru body, think about it, the mahogany ain't gonna do JACKSHIT for your tone. Remember, its the path from the neck to the pickup that effects tone. Not the stuff around it. If your neck goes all the way to touch the pickups, then your Mah body doesn't have anything to do with it. It will just weigh you down, and slow down your playing. I am certain your a shredder, and you want a LIGHT guitar eh? Answer: Did you know their is NO SUCH THING to a fast neck??? Fast assumes that it can make your hand move faster. Nope. What you mean is a well oiled neck. no amount of oil is going to make you faster Answer: Schecter C-1 Blackjack ATX FR Electric Guitar Features:Arched Mahogany string-thru body Set-In 25.5" 3-piece mahogany neck with Ultra Access Ebony fingerboard with 'Active Bolt' Inlay at 12th 24 jumbo frets Seymour Duncan active "Blackout' Humbuckers Original Floyd Rose Tremolo Grover Tuners GraphTech lubricating nut Black chrome hardware Aged 3-ply binding Everything except for the maple neck.... EDIT: Actually, according to the Schecter site, the regular C1 Blackjack FR has a maple neck and rosewood fretboard.... Answer: ^^^ Went to the Schecter site to check and ta-da, no images :p Answer: ...because neck-thru means the neck and body are the same material. The wings on a neck-thru are glued to the sides of the neck and can be any material... :freak: Answer: you could probably get something like that from Carvin lots of options Answer: ^^^ Went to the Schecter site to check and ta-da, no images :p The schecter site sucks and always has. It almost locked up my PC twice. Whoever runs that site is a moron. :poke: :cop: Answer: If your gonna go for a neck thru body, think about it, the mahogany ain't gonna do JACKSHIT for your tone. Did you seriously just claim that a mahogany body would slow down somebody's playing??? :poke: Answer: The schecter site sucks and always has. It almost locked up my PC twice. I think the mahogany/maple combination might be a bit tough as per your requirements, because neck-thru means the neck and body are the same material. No it doesn't. What made you think that? Neck through just means the neck run through the body, instead of being glued on at the end, like a set neck. Then the body is glued onto the sides of the neck. Answer: Did you know their is NO SUCH THING to a fast neck??? Fast assumes that it can make your hand move faster. Nope. What you mean is a well oiled neck. no amount of oil is going to make you faster Give it a rest. We all KNOW what he means. Answer: The wings on a neck-thru are glued to the sides of the neck and can be any material... :freak: Yes, but the center piece of the body, which carry the majority of the sound (since it's where the strings run, and and where all the hardware is), is the same material as the neck. Answer: No it doesn't. What made you think that? Neck through just means the neck run through the body, instead of being glued on at the end, like a set neck. Then the body is glued onto the sides of the neck. Yes. Very good. Take away the wings, and there's still a functional body... made of the same piece of wood as the neck. Move along. Answer: Did you know their is NO SUCH THING to a fast neck??? Fast assumes that it can make your hand move faster. Nope. What you mean is a well oiled neck. no amount of oil is going to make you faster When people refer to a neck as "fast" it has nothing to do with oil. They mean that the shape and texture of the neck lends itself to the playing style of fast soloists. A 50s Les Paul style neck with huge jumbo frets and a soft lacquer finish feels "slow" to somebody who is into "shredding." Answer: Did you know their is NO SUCH THING to a fast neck??? Fast assumes that it can make your hand move faster. Nope. What you mean is a well oiled neck. no amount of oil is going to make you faster Qith "fast neck" I meant a thin neck. Answer: you could probably get something like that from Carvin lots of options :thu::thu::thu: i have a mahogany DC127 that is the shit. get one, you'll be glad you did Answer: i +1 the notion for all mahogany. your gonna sound mostly bright with a neck through maple neck. my carvin has a mahogany neck through and it's a very warm sounding guitar. that's what i'd do. one more thing about the carvin, is that you can get a neck through that isn't painted. you can get it with tung-oil, which is even smoother than unfinished.
