Is There Anywhere That Lets You Finance With No Credit?
Question: Honestly... I don't like credit cards. I don't like the thought, because I know I'd go overboard and be in debt. But as some of you know, I have been having MAJOR FUCKING GAS for a Gibson gold top. I'm wanting a Gibson Standard gold top or a Gibson Classic 1960's gold top, but I don't have the money... and won't for a while more than likely. I only have a debit card. Is there any site that will let you finance and sign up for one of their cards without any credit? I don't have any bad credit or anything... just none. This whole credit thing really made no sense. I'd probably have better luck if I had bad credit. At least then I'd HAVE credit. Answer: american musical supply and zzsounds AMS requires a credit check on things over 995 zzsounds requires you call in to order I've ordered a few things from AMS (all under 400) and made the three payments with no issues and I hear they're lenient with the credit check thing but have no experience with that. Both versions of financing are interest free though at least zzsounds charges an extra $10 bucks or so as a set-up fee, or something along those lines. Hope this helps Answer: No credit? Bad credit? Try the Parental Loan Company! Answer: Haha... yeah... I just don't think they'd do that for me. Answer: I'd save and save and save - credit cards will just get you in trouble - and don't go to a Loan shark who lends at like 20% interest, stay well away. Answer: Gypsy, you've been doing it right and now, for some reason, you want to do it wrong. Credit is fine for something like a home mortgage. It is a really bad idea for buying "stuff." Hang on. Save your money, the guitar will be there when you're ready for it. It won't take long if you set your mind to it and cut down some of your other expenses. Sit down. Figure out a budget. Work out a plan and make it happen. You will have a simpler and happier life if you follow Schtang's advice. I don't like credit cards, or dealing with credit companies, so I guess I really should continue to avoid them. Delving into the credit world for a guitar is pretty ridiculous I suppose. Besides, shouldn't take too much longer to save up the money. However, SOME places offer no finance charge for up to a year, so, IF (BIG IF) you can pay it off COMPLETELY before the interest kicks in, that might be something to look at. But if you cant, you get screwed. Answer: Maybe like a music store in Harlem? Answer: Re....Is There Anywhere That Lets You Finance With No Credit? Not in this financial climate I'm afraid. Phil. Answer: Answer: We all have GAS. We all want expensive stuff. But what really sucks is when you take out the credit card, buy that moment's GAS purchase - say a $1,500 Les Paul - and then rack up 20% interest charges over the year ($300!) - carry that for a couple years ($600), and end up needing to sell the guitar just to help pay of the credit card. 2 years later you're down $600, and have no guitar. If you don't think you can afford the guitar any time soon, then you shouldn't put it on credit - b/c you're saying you won't be able to pay it off any time soon. If you really MUST have the guitar, or GAS item, then get a 2nd job. If working your butt off 60-70 hours a week leaves you enough time to enjoy your guitar, then great. Otherwise we all just have to live within our means. I've been GASing for a PRS CU22 for about 20 years now. And their prices keep going up. I don't anticipate getting one in the next 20 years years. But you know what? It's just a guitar. I can go to the music store if I want to really play one... but at this point I GAS for stuff that I can use in my band - something that would have a practical use for it - either sonically or functionally. And then I wait until I can find one for a price I can afford. Sometimes I wait a couple years before finding an affordable one. Still waiting to find a "cheap" Surfcaster to hang on my wall... but that's never going to happen either, is it. ;) Answer: I've used american musical supplies and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I got my twin reverb through them a couple of years ago, and they gave me a whole year to pay the monthly payments as I could with 0% interest. and I had no credit at the time. :) Answer: hell, the regular credit people are over 20% now. But if you cant, you get screwed. yeah your right, I am thinking home loans which are about 8.75% in Australia and credit cards around 19.99% - so that would make the Loans sharks interest rate at about 80%. Man stay well away. If you like a guitar in a store put it on Lay-buy (I think you guys call it lay-away) and pay a little off each week - if it take 12-18 months so be it.:blah: Answer: You're right. Lay-away works pretty well. I bought a coupela Martins that way! Answer: If you can get no interest for x time, that may be alright as long as you can make the payments to pay it off. If not, don't do it. Even when young. I am the poster child of what not to do with credit. I owed 2 x more than I made in a year. I could not believe I received that much credit. But, that is why all the banks keep laying people off now. Answer: hell, the regular credit people are over 20% now. But if you cant, you get screwed. good idea, you're basically borrowing your own money in the long run. just make sure you pay it off. i bought a ton of shit, had no interest for 18 months, and made payments of at least 50% of the total regularly. You're right. I don't like credit cards, or dealing with credit companies, so I guess I really should continue to avoid them. Delving into the credit world for a guitar is pretty ridiculous I suppose. Besides, shouldn't take too much longer to save up the money. the downside is that without a way of establishing credit, you will never have credit. cell phone bills don't count for shit, even if you pay them religiously. i had to get a credit card in order for me to be able to get loans for a car and school. no one was willing to cosign, so i was fucked. i could barely get a cell phone at the time, so i got a credit card. save up the money, get a credit card to buy it with, and pay it off immediately. don't keep it in your wallet/on you at all times and you won't be tempted to use it. repeat the buying/paying off entire balance process several times when you have the money, and you'll establish a good credit history. have them set the limit real low so you can't go ape shit with it, exercise some financial restraint, and work the system, don't let them work you. Answer: +1 on American Musical Supply online. Got a Roland GK20 guitar-synth w/ GK3 pup and a Korg Keyboard with 3 "EASY Payments" each- no credit check as long as you have a Visa check card.:thu: Answer: save up the money, get a credit card to buy it with, and pay it off immediately. don't keep it in your wallet/on you at all times and you won't be tempted to use it. repeat the buying/paying off entire balance process several times when you have the money, and you'll establish a good credit history. have them set the limit real low so you can't go ape shit with it, exercise some financial restraint, and work the system, don't let them work you. This is an interesting idea. I've pretty much ruled out financing this purchase, because no one has been able to approve my credit yet, so what I'm thinking is maybe I should just sign up for a credit card, save up for this guitar, and then use the credit card to pay for the guitar. I'll be able to pay it off immediately, and then I'll probably have some pretty decent credit. It's really too bad you can't do that with eBay...... unless you can.
