Answer:
Actually 80's metal never died.
Even when the "grunge" came into being you still heard many 80's Metal tunes from Ozzy,Dio,Motley,Dokken, etc.
And for the past 10 -15 years or so they have had" house of hair" type shows that have been playing that era Metal and frequently.
Now the 80's spandex and big hair aspect I dont miss and am very glad is gone.
But 80's Metal is still very relevant from the VH1's too the Rock Radio too the Cover bar scene.
And when I go to 80's Metal band concerts these days they are almost always a Full house.
I say it never really died it just took a back seat to Corporate authorized Rock and Metal.
I wish something would come along and kill the genre that the Hinders,Breaking Benjamins,DragonForce and Nickelbacks are in.
IMO todays Rock and Metal for the most part is garbage.

Answer:
I hope not. I don't want to "feel the noize" again.

Answer:

It's Back...

God, I hope not. A friend dragged me to one of those "hair metal revival" shows a few years ago, and it was 50% tragedy, 50% comedy. Four hours of fortysomething guys wearing too much makeup, leather and enough hairspray to melt a mile of ozone, pretending the 1990's never happened. All the drummers played the same 4/4 beat, all the singers screamed "Are you ready to rock?!!" (some multiple times during their set), and the singer from Cinderella sounded like Eric Cartman from South Park.
I won't even go into the crowd reliving those "glory days" either. All I can say is: if you're fat, don't wear that. <shudders>
Nothing against bands like Priest, Metallica, Slayer or Maiden, but the hair metal days are hopefully long gone. As Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) once said, "After the guitar solo ended, you wanted to throw the guy a fish."
There are bands like Dragonforce and Trivium are doing the metal thing, but it's more Iron Maiden than Poison.

Answer:
Well, it seems as if it is.Rocklahoma is huge. People from all over the world coming to OKLAHOMA to see these hair bands. I wish to god it wouldn't though. There were some good bands like Priest,Maiden, Armored Saint etc but most of that shit needs to stay dead.

Answer:
No. The reason it was popular in the first place was that there were a lot of people who truly loved and had passion for metal, making original music, had been undiscovered for a long time that suddenly exploded onto the scene.
Then came the "Whoah, I can make money from this too!" crowd who made a bunch of crap phony soul-less records and ruined its reputation forever.

Answer:
no. every genre has a tiny nostalgia resurgence, but no. Agree!

Early releases from Ratt,Dokken,Motley,etc.. were all very Good and filled with quite original riff's and soloing that today is still considered VG but as the end of the 80's progressed you had tons of subpar playing and writing Metal acts that looked like Drag Queens and sounded like Ass.
I blame a lot of it on Twisted Sister and their success as the formula which brought 80's Metal down the crapper.

20,000 people standing rocking in the pastures outside Pryor, OK...maybe not a resurgence, but at least a damn good time!
