Welcome to www.todayaq.com !!!

It's actually noticeable how much time is saved.

Question:
It's going on a couple months now since I realized I am totally guitared-out, I just so don't have an interest in buying any more, and that goes for amps as well. The last guitar I bought, was about at that point, but it was one that I'd been wanting for a long while and decided to get it and be done. The last amp I bought I probably wouldn't even have bought if I hadn't asked here on HC if an acoustic amp was REALLY needed for electric acoustics and guitars with acoustic piezos. Responses convinced me it did make a difference, otherwise, I'd have passed on getting that last amp.
Yes, I still see some guitars here that interest me, but it never reaches the level any more of any serious interest in buying, and the general interest quickly fades.
Anyway, the point is, since then, I have actually noticed how much time it has saved me from spending time on-line scanning and searching for deals. Ebay, on-line dealers specials, closeouts and scratch-n-dents, etc. And not only deals, but checking for reviews and info on stuff I saw that interested me, comparing prices, etc., etc.
I'm sure I already knew how time consuming it was, but since I've stopped, it really is noticeable and amazingly, it seems I have more time to spend with and enjoy the ones I've already acquired. Imagine that!
And I don't know why this should also happen, but it seems like I'm spending less time in here. A thread has to REALLY interest me to open it, and as far as posting, that's even become more rare. Maybe, subconciously, I'm thinking that spending too much time here could trigger a gas attack, (we all know this forum does feed gas).
And you know what? I'm REALLY glad that the gas attacks have passed.
Will it last forever? Who knows.
Does it mean I won't buy something that's a phenomenal deal? Of course not. If I spot a preCBS strat in garage sale for 100., chances are, I'm going to snap it up.
But otherwise and for now, it's been a really liberating feeling.

Answer:
I understand what you mean. I havn't bought a new amp or guitar in over two years. however I do keep my eyes open for good deals.

Answer:
We're all consumers. The search & study methods you listed are also used for cars, toaster ovens, you name it. We just don't hunt those things as often as guitars. It's the true musician in you that is now appreciating the ones you already have & using that time to enjoy them. So..... congrats on the lack of gas for now & enjoy it!

Answer:
Traitor!!!

Just kidding. That response was just born out of envy and jellousy.

Good for you man, good for you.

Answer:
Looks like he's already gone
was that an official sign off? Is there a deeper meaning here that I missed?
Maybe I should go play some guitar now. All of a sudden typing seems futile!

Answer:
I still have the "sickness"!

Answer:

Answer:
Damn. I waste so much time and I don't even want anything new (except for maybe a new acoustic or a vintage Gibson amp). I'm going to have to be liberated. Spend the extra time working out and playing my guitars and drinking.

But otherwise and for now, it's been a really liberating feeling. I'm in the same boat. Are there still more guitars I would like to own? Yes, but nothing that I have an overwhelming urge to pull the trigger on. Same with amps. There are several amps I wouldn't mind owning, but I'm happy with what I have at the moment. Lately, I've been spending more time playing and less time GASsing for stuff I don't really need. I do still spend a lot of time here, but even with all the pics of shiny new guitars every day, somehow, I don't feel tempted.

Answer:
I'm almost there, myself - with the 339 and the resonator added to the herd, I'm done with guitars for awhile - and I may even sell the Strat. I've got all the amps I'll ever need, and I bought some near-field studio monitors and an attenuator a few months ago. There's nothing left on my list except a ribbon mic, and fortunately, that's not the kind of purchase I get real excited about.
I still spend way too much time here, though.

Answer:
I am done....my GAS attacks used to be endless. If I saw something I wanted, I would HAVE to get it. It was REALLY bad when I made a lot of money. One day I looked around me and there were 20 or so guitars. Also, playing in a worship band was the worst for me....it was like playing in a cover band...but I wanted to be able to sound like ANY guitar player. So the GAS was mad, and I justified it by saying I was doing it for the church...
Long story short, now I just want to sound good.....one style, I dont care....it is my style. I will make that sound as good as I can, and that will be my sound.
I still find myself hearing a big Marshall and saying "man I would like to sound like that", but it is not me. I sound like a Fender Strat through a Fender amp with no effects.
Anyhoo....GAS is gone.

Answer:
You'll be back ;) My local Mom and Pop has an annual blow out sale just for students of their studio. Half price list on everything, Fenders, Gibsons, Marshalls, crazy good deals. I waited all year for it, showed up last month, played every guitar in the shop, custom shop LP's, Eric Johnson Strat that was on my list, etc.
On the last day of the sale at the last hour I walked out, and didn't buy anything: I just felt that I was buying for the sake of buying and wtf, I'm happy with the nice guitars I already have. And I was getting self conscious about giving a bad impression to my kids, you know, consumerism and all that.
So I walked out, depressed, but proud I held the fort.
Last week I bought a new Gibson WM-45 acoustic on ebay. Oh well.

Answer:
I've done way more selling than buying the last couple months. I moved out a bunch of pedals and upgraded to a Crunch Box and Blues Pro Overdrive. That cleared out a lot of space and more than paid for the new ones. I just shipped out my Agile Goldtop, no more P-90s here for me and the Womanizer is out of here as well.
Less stuff, but better stuff seems to feel a lot better right now. I spend less time trying to find some mystery tone and more time with my fingers on the strings.
I've decided?
Strat pickup selector getting on my way.?
EMG Wiring Diagram for a Les Paul. Anyone have one?
Poweramps for Modelers?
Esp ltd Viper 400 - what say you?
Does anyone here have solar panels?
1950s LP/strat prices compared to today's?
Who here works in one time zone, but lives in another?
