Welcome to www.todayaq.com !!!

OK let's have it. Why do you hate PRS guitars?

Question:
The trade thread got me thinking.
What are the legitimate reasons you hate PRS guitars? I mean the real reasons. Not 'My friend says they suck" or "They only do Nu-Metal".
I want to hear from people who have actually played them and owned them for more than 5 minutes. Playing one at GC once doesn't count either.
I know Gibson takes a lot of heat but it's not because the guitars suck. IMO it's mainly the corporate business practices of ol' Henry and the sometimes shoddy QC on a guitar with a four figure price tag. I love Gibsons but I think there are better alternatives for the price.
With PRS there really are no guitars like them. No one makes dead on copies.
They do cost as much (or more) than Gibsons but they don't have the QC issues. There may be a problem with 1 in 1000 but the factory will do whatever they can to remedy the trouble.
So, what are your real reasons? I just want to understand it.

Because a lot of people seem to really like them.

Answer:
They seem pretty nice to me too. If you don't like yours can I have it?

Answer:
I like them quite a bit! I wish they made some more mid-range (~$1k) American-made guitars, or more SE's with wide-thin necks.

Answer:
I don't like them, but I don't hate them either. Visually they're beautiful guitars and they sound nice in the right hands. But I don't like the way they feel in my hands. That doesn't mean I hate em, at all, they're just not for me.

Answer:
I likes em. I owned many a Gibson and I can say without a doubt the PRS guitars are a better made guitar.

Answer:
I haven't owned one because the wide necks are some of the few that just don't work with my hands. I wouldn't mind one of the SEs (because let's face it, I could never afford a US PRS here) if they came with a narrower neck.

Answer:
I don't hate 'em. I own a PRS Cus22, it's not my favorite guitar and I can see why the thin neck (edit: by this I mean the flat/wide profile) might throw some people off (like me), but the build quality is honestly perfect.

Answer:
I hate PRS because they are too damn expensive. I want one very much and yet I can never seem to justify the exorbitant cost for a block of wood with some shiny bits that allows me to play "How Dry I Am" in my basement.
Plus I live about 30 miles from the factory and I don't even get a discount. The bastards!!!

I thought about it but this thread is for the ones who don't like them. There's quite a few of them around here.
Those who do like them don't have to post in this one.

Answer:
i personally just don't like the way the neck and fretboard feel. i've played all from the top end models to the lower end, and they all just felt wrong to me. not that there was anything wrong with any of the ones i've played from a build standpoint.
i also don't like the look very much. i'm an old fashioned kinda guy when it comes to instruments, and they just look too modern for my tastes.

Answer:
I personally have only played them in GC so I guess that I am excluded from this discussion. But as an outsider looking in it is this type of segregation that keeps those that have not pissed off and is probably responsible for a lot of the hatred.
Personally I won't even look at them anymore because they cost too damn much. That means that they suck. ;)

Hahha.:p

Answer:

I want another. Bad.

Hahha.:p I'm not trying to! :)
I just see PRS get a lot of grief and I want to understand why. The 5 I've owned were all excellent.

Answer:
10 minutes old, 15 posts. People have a lot to say about PRS I guess.

Answer:
I don't hate PRS, but would never own one due to the feel of the finish on the neck. It feels very sticky/plastic to me.

Holy smokes! That is beautiful.

Answer:
What color is that?
In all honesty I think most people dislike PRS guitars because they are so expensive.
