Question:
Recently, we condensed my band from a 4+1 to a 3+1. We eliminated our keyboardist. I have replaced the keyboardist with my Roland guitar synth's. I am running a Gr-33 for my organ parts, a GR-30 for piano, and a another GR-30 for brass. These have volume pedals which I use for controlling the volume and blending. These go to a 4 channel mixer, then to my twin.
I also just purchased the Peavey Generation EX which I put the GK pickup's in, and I run the y chord out to JCM 2000 (2x12 cabinet) and then the acoustic goes to my Marshall acoustic amp. I use a Ernie Ball Volume pedal for the acoustic to control volume/blend.
I just wired up the pedal board which I run my modded crybaby-->OCD--tonecore chorus-->echo park-->mxr micro amp.
I am running a split from the guitar to the Digitech VL4 which we use for backing vocals All this should keep my feet moving.....

That's sounds like a lot of queues to remember. Hats off to you sir. I'm not too famillar with guitar synths. How exactly does that work in a band context? Will you be triggering prerecorded parts or will it be like changing the voice of your guitar?

Let us know how it turns out. I'm not triggering anything. All the sounds can run simultaneous, or I can blend them in on and off. I use the organ synth the most, because it tracks very easy on top of my guitar parts. When I have organ and brass I have to finger pick or play single notes. The acoustic guitar/piano is a great blend. The two are similar frequencies, and they fatten each other up.

Inquiring minds want to know. We do Classic Rock/Motown/Blues/Country. We really need keyboards, but I don't really want to deal with another member anymore. Plus most of the club gigs we play get a % of the bar, so it makes it better on the $ side....
We played a couple of weeks ago where I just used one synth, and it worked out good. I expanded on the theme and added the extra synths and acoustic guitar, and it really expanded the sound. Eventually, I will probably use a single amp for the synth and acoustic guitar, but for now I run separate amps.
The Digitech VL 4 has really filled out the backing vocals. The great part about it is I don't really have to worry about changing keys or midi programming. It recognizes the chord and sets backing notes. We don't miss our keyboardist backing vocals at all.
