Luthier specializing in Harmonys?
Question: Long ago and far away, someone had posted a link to a vendor who had a tech that specialized in rebuilding old Harmonys. Thought it was the Podium, but can't find anything on their site. Am considering having the neck reset on my 1260 (), and would prefer someone with Harmony experience. If anyone has the link, please post it. Thx. Answer: Krash, I don't have much information but a guy named Todd Cambio seems to be pretty much an expert on old Stellas, Harmonies, and others. The name Dale Johnson also pops up in an article Cambio wrote for Fretboard Journal. Don't know anything else - might google or contact FJ. Fraulini also makes replicas of some of these guitars (and he does have a web site) - again, might be worth checking. I'll do some research on my own. Answer: Thx Freeman - I'll search both names. What do you think of Brian Kimsey doing a Harmony? Answer: Thx Freeman - I'll search both names. What do you think of Brian Kimsey doing a Harmony? Last I heard he is a year out just doing Martins. Makes me think I should change lines of work. There is another name somewhere that keeps eluding me. I'll keep searching. Answer: Krash, I kind of remember who you're talking about... but can't remember the link. I'll be on the lookout though and post if I find it. Amost certain it was the Podium - the original link was to some beautiful restored Harmonys, but there's nothing on their site now. Just emailed them and I'll see what they come back with. Answer: might also try here and I remember Steve Kovacik (upstate New York, I think) had a restored harmony on his web page. Steve does lots of different repair work, a good choice. Answer: Just on Kovacik's website - I'll email him and get some info. Thx. Answer: Ask for Marty at the Podium. I've played some of his rebuilt Harmonys and they are well done and sound good.
