Just curious.
The other night I was working through a guitar mag so I got out the acoustic for a while, then got up to a bit about slide so I got out the solid body that's set up for slide. After a while on that some blues required me to get the semi-acoustic out of the case.
Then to round out the evening I got out the "good" bass to run through the blues tune.
That still left the strat, the resonator, another solid body and the "cheap" bass still in the cupboard.
That's a few guitars, I thought to myself, "how did I get so many ? " 8 )
Anyone else "lose count" of what they have ?

Anyone else "lose count" of what they have ? That's always a good question. One answer is to never sell an instrument. That way, they just keep accumulating like mouse turds under the couch.

I still need: to mod the Jazz, get a hollowbody with P90s, a dreadnaught (Martin, Yairi, mebbe private luthier? ;) ), Hamer Artist Custom, a McCarty, and a good recordin' bass--I like my friend's Godin...mebbe buy it if he upgrades and sells it? Be fun to have an old cello laying around, and a banjo! Of course I'd also like another wah, a delay, and mebbe another flavor of tube overdrive next to my Chandler?

Right now I only have 3 but only play 2 of them. There are 2 more at my mother's house not worth mentioning since they are in no shape to play. One more got sold at a flea market by mom, another was given to a friend's son by my mom, and yet another was stolen during my stint in the Navy. The wife tried to get in on the act and give away one of my 3 to her young cousing but now she knows better.
I have the exact opposite of GAS it seems, though I'm lusting after at least 2 more acoustics and a Fender Texas Special Fat Strat. Money is no object to me, but the wife's word is everything - unfortunately that word is NO. :(

Of course most of my recent purchases have been NAMM show demonstrators of Asian knock offs that were inexpensive to begin with, and the fact that they sell these things dirt cheap helps. I don't know if she'd be so encouraging if the guitars each cost thousands of dollars.

'01 MIA Fender Strat that's been my main guitar for about a year and a half now.
'95 Fender SRV Strat that used to be my main one untill the frets got so bad that it won't chord in tune. I use it for back up only now and am trying to decide between a new neck from Warmoth or just a refret.
I also used to own a '90 Squire Strat that I stripped down to the bare wood and oiled up along with a '93 MIM Fender Strat that I ended up selling for $80 to cover rent when I was living in New York. The Squier got stolen from a storage space in the mid '90s.
