Peter Frampton
Question: I have to say that time has definitely shown that, after all is said and done, of all the guitarists from that truly abundant time of great guitarists, Peter Frampton is the most toneful, most tasteful, and most versatile. He's simply phenomenal. (Yes, I just saw him, again, on Soundstage.) Answer: I agree. I like his playing, but I hate the Talk Box. I don't like it when Adam Jones or Joe Walsh use it either. It sounds like wet farts to me. The only criticism that I have is that Frampton's lyric writing is second or third tier, but he's cool. Humble Pie was one of the great bands of the 70's, and PF played on Harrison's All Things Must Pass. He's simply phenomenal. (Yes, I just saw him, again, on Soundstage.) I wouldn't go as far as to say he was "the most toneful, most tasteful and most versatile" to come from his era, but he seems to have only improved with age. Answer: I agree. The only criticism that I have is that Frampton's lyric writing is second or third tier, but he's cool. Humble Pie was one of the great bands of the 70's, and PF played on Harrison's All Things Must Pass. Me too, the Talk Box got to go. Answer: I met him once about 15 years ago. He was a really nice, down to earth guy Answer: He lives in Cincinnati  Answer: He lives in Cincinnati  Yep. His wife is a Cincy native. Answer: He lives in Cincinnati  ...AND, Clapton's wife is from Columbus, and he spends quite a bit of time there  Who woulda thought that Frampton and Clapton would land in Ohio ??? :D Answer: I wouldn't go as far as to say he was "the most toneful, most tasteful and most versatile" to come from his era, but he seems to have only improved with age. Well, he may have improved somewhat with age, it is only natural as he has never stopped playing, but I have o tell you that he was indeed THAT good, even bach then, so I am not sure what you mean by the improvement comment? Did you think he wasnt so good back then, and only NOW he is worth listening too, as he has gotten better? Not being a smartass, just curious as to what you think is so great about him now, that he wasnt able to do, or wasnt doing back then. Personally, I think he has always been great. Answer: ...AND, Clapton's wife is from Columbus, and he spends quite a bit of time there  Who woulda thought that Frampton and Clapton would land in Ohio ??? :D :thu: Saw Frampton play last summer with the Cincinnati Pops. Hes got a huge sound, and when its backed by a whole orchestra....freaking awesome. Answer: Yep Frampton is a great guitar player, though some of his songs an be a little to popish. Answer: Check out the Live in Detroit concert film. Just great. Answer: Yes I have that one... "I don't need no doctor' kicks some serious ass, some very good acoustical work by Frampton on that also. Answer: I've been a big fan for a long time - ever since I first heard Do You Feel Like We Do on Frampton Comes Alive when I was in high school. The talk box has got kind of old since then, but at the time it was pretty kick ass. Has anyone checked out his 2006 CD Fingerprints? Answer: I saw him about 5 or 6 times with Framptons Camel back in the 70s up to his live album. I even Humble Pie once with Frampton as an opener. They didnt jam together at the end which would have been cool. After his Live album and His Gayish movie with the BGs He nearly died in the record industry. I think its been maybe a year or 2 since he's been trying to make a comeback and the Geico commercial isnt helping his image much. His biggest problem has been his material. Every album he's put out may have 1 or 2 decent cuts and the rest you couldnt hum if you tried. He is a great performer though, if you've never heard him before He's worth hearing. And his use of Leslie cabinets really makes for a great sound vs a pedal like chorus. Answer: ALWAYS throws a great show. GREAT show. I wouldn't call him best at anything, but a very solid player and performer. I even like his songwriting. Kinda like sitting down with a dear friend and listeing to them jam. Answer: Frampton is one of my all-time favs. His phrasing is very melodic and he has always had great tone. Answer: Yep Frampton is a great guitar player, though some of his songs an be a little to popish. +1 Answer: "Frampton Comes Alive" was a landmark album, but he was nearly the very last artist to be forgiven for being involved in this train wreck of a project: And... Honestly. The dude covers a song that RINGO sang, and puts in a weaker vocal performance than the original. Good heavens, what was he thinking even showing up for this film? Probably a GOOD IDEA by the agent/manager types - a bit like doing an album cover for Comes Alive that makes you look like a blond David Cassidy and consequently have to endure years of abuse as a teeny rocker. I guess everyone makes career mistakes and that one took the focus off musicianship and placed it firmly on the torso. Me? I always thought he was among the best and the recent stuff supports that for me:thu::thu::thu: Ebay Score: EMG DG20 What Now?
