OT: Anyone else have exceptionally small hands?
Question: I'm getting to the point where the extremely small size of my hands is holding back my technique alot. Add that to the fact i'm not trying to anchor my pinky anymore and i'm in real debacle with trying to progress. I think i'm going to get a Baritone, put it in Drop A and just play drone/doom from now on. Answer: I have fairly large hands, and I'm not done growing, which is great cause I love big stretches and weird chords :) My bassist has the SMALLEST hands I've ever seen. She's barely 5 feet tall and her reach on bass is probably not even my reach from middle finger to pinky. She still shreds it up though :rawk: its kinda funny to watch her hands jump around  Answer:  Are you a "little" person? Get a Comparison. Answer: I'm not a little person. I can do a stretch from first fret to fifth fret if i really try. I spent all my time getting good at sweep/economy picking because it doens't matter when you have small hands. and now that i'm trying to play fast paced technical stuff int he lower registers i'm getting terrible cramps. Answer: I have the small hand syndrome as well, and so I just don't ever try to play fast on the lower frets. I just adjust my style to a more slowhand approach, play the notes when my pinky damn well gets over there  Answer: I'm not a little person. Maybe try a different type/shape of guitar? I used to hate they way my Ibanez RG used to feel, and strats/superstrats in general for that matter...it was a few years until I picked up a LP and realized that I could play guitar without ever getting a wrist cramp. Answer: to get it where your hand won't cramp up you need to stretch your fingers and hand and when they do cramp up massage your forearm to relax it Answer: I have smaller hands and I can play any riff you throw at me (stretch wise)....there was this one Bach piece in school I learned where you fretted the low F with your index, then the high C#, E, and A with your pinky (that's fretting the three high strings on the fifth fret) and then arpeggiating them. I was the only studen that could nail it, but at first it was the chord that almost made me change my major. Then I just sat down with it and practiced until I could nail it with ease. Don't fail it with ease, nail it with ease. Answer: i have small hands from what i've seen from other people. i'm a small person though, so it's really not surprising, i'm just glad my fingers are at the very least fairly skinny and spindly and not fat, so they don't get tripped up on each other. EDIT: HOLY SHIT 10,000TH POST I'M A FUCKING LOSER Answer: I have tiny hands with thin fingers (shaking my hand must feel like shaking a womans hands). When I was 13 it was a major problem (thin necks felt like baseball bats) but they have since grown into the tiny girl-like hands I have now. It doesnt hamper my playing in any way EXCEPT on certain chord voicings I had to give up on like: B9 x 7 8 11 12 x or C13 5 (with index finger bar) 7 6 (with index finger bar) 12 13 x (2 of many chord voicings that create cool "rolling" sounds when arpeggiated properly and combined with other similarly voiced chords in a chord progression. I have a friend who composes ambient new age music on guitar and uses unconventional chord voicings kind of effectively but he has the finger reach to do it. Chords that tear my finger webbing, he overshoots). It could have been worse though. I could have had short sausage fingers. Answer: C13 5 (with index finger bar) 7 6 (with index finger bar) 12 13 x :freak: This is boggling my mind. Is that C# on the 3rd string supposed to be C natural? Both the tonality of the chord and the position is baffling me. I don't understand how that could possibly be played Also, I have some relatively small hands/fingers as well, but it has never been much of a problem. My fingers are about the same length as my girlfriend's, but a little skinnier. I can stretch them pretty well and it has never really stopped me from doing something I want in my playing. Besides obviously having hair on them, I have some really nice fingers/toes for a guy. :thu: When I see other d00d's fingers (or in unfortunate scenarios, their toes), sometimes I just wanna hurl! I'm glad I don't have sausage fingers. I think my fingers are sized perfectly for most guitar frets. If I wanted to be a shredder, my fingers would fit the bill pretty well! Answer: i have very small hands, and dont really have a problem with playing shit keep working dude Answer: I have small hands too, and a very large penis:eek:.... I know, it doesn't make any sense at all:idk: Answer: Two words. Danny Gatton He had the shortest, stubbiest fingers and he was great! Answer: ive got short stubby syndrome dont hold me back none Answer: 5 (with index finger bar) 7 6 (with index finger bar) 12 13 x It could have been worse though. I could have had short sausage fingers. WTF? Am I missing something here? Answer: Ok, lets try this....... position your hands in the upper frets in the neck and place the index finger in the first fret and stretch the pinky.....how far can you guys get??? Me: index finger first fret, pinky 6th fret..I can't go further than that. YOUR TURN! Answer: I have small hands too, and a very large penis:eek:.... I know, it doesn't make any sense at all:idk: LOL - your small hands just makes it look like you've got a large hog!! :cop: Answer: LOL - your small hands just makes it look like you've got a large hog!! :cop: :o:cry: Tell me about the strange habits of some of your coworkers?
