What manufacturers actually monitor...
Question: So I'm doing a bit of a quicky-contract this weekend. I'm supply IT support for an office move of a major pro-audio manufacturer. Not amps/guitars - though there were plenty nice looking Blade guitars and Marshall amps about and a superbly lovely Ibanez Roadster - more pro audio. Don't want to say the name, for the reasons. Well it seems they have a "User Research" department that does actually monitor forums, this one included, to find out what people are saying about their company and products. Their back-and-forth emails are really funny too. Even calling some users "full of shit" and not to mention a couple of PCs having username and passwords for accounts they hold on various forums to "spread the good word". This is what I found amusing, particularly as I recognised a few usernames on this and other forums. Some of which have signatures containing some of their flagship products. I will say though, I'd go through the eye'd tooth to walk out with a bit of kit too! There is some nice shit there! Anyways, just thought I'd share my insights over the weekend... they are watching you - no they really ARE watching you! Jon Answer: Names or STFU Answer: yer mam Answer: I can't really give you names as my contract is not complete there. It would be too obvious who I am. When its up, sure! Answer: whens it up? Answer:  Answer: if they are really watching us, then why the hell don't companies listen to our complaints of their products? Answer: Vague threads ftl. Answer: They do! Most of the time its pebcak but if a lot of people have the same complaints it gets noted. No idea what happens after that, it was only few emails I read - purely for testing you understand! Answer: lol pebcak Answer: I know a secret but I'm not gonna tell you Answer: am i on the "full of shit" list?:love: Answer: Why am i not suprised Answer: I don't find it that shocking, it's not like companies looking at forums is illegal or anything :idk: I'd be interested to hear some names, though ;) Answer: i'm totally OK with them seeing what people say about their products, but having accounts used primarily for putting out a "good word" is pretty fucking shitty. ARE YOU READING THIS??!! STOP USING GUERRILLA MARKETING AND MAKE GOOD SHIT INSTEAD!!! YOU FUCKING WANKERS!!! Answer: It's those bugera guys...haha Answer: I will say though, I'd go through the eye'd tooth to walk out with a bit of kit too! There is some nice shit there! Anyways, just thought I'd share my insights over the weekend... they are watching you - no they really ARE watching you! Jon this means nothing if you're not going to tell us who/what it is... :idk: but it doesnt surprise me about the accounts- i have spotted some suspicious postings of people praising some things just a little too much. they're usually easy to recognise-lol Answer: It's those bugera guys...haha probably- Answer: how many "pro audio" manufacturers are based in england? although, if he's doing IT support, i guess they COULD be just about anywhere. Anybody recognize this signature? Does a guitar like this exist? Travis picking songs? a cool video we all can enjoy, Steven Wilson & Jordan Rudess on stage together? Blue sounding strings? Serious Intonation Problems? DRRI Ohm Question? Oh Hai. I'm back from Chicago.? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.todayaq.com
