NGD for me ( again! )
Question: 4 Attachment(s) so heres the second new addition to the family. A Morgan Monroe M-50V which arrived yesterday. I have to say even before taking it to my magician luthier for a set up it plays and sounds beautifully. I know some have had their problems with the M-50 but I gotta goodun - plus I cant find a fault in quality. I'm sorta amazed ( and she makes a great companion for my Guild GAD JF-30 - now I just got to get them to breed lol ). Answer: Happy New Guitar Day! I'm really interested in hearing a audio clip from it....the only one I ever tried was very bright and thin... Answer: Yeah, they could have a GuildMon. Congrats on the new git Rick. Answer: thanks :) - C70 - I'll try to get a clip done, its off to my luthier today for some love tho. The sound from this one is really well balanced to me, my JF-30 has a commanding bass and ringing highs - well pronounced. This Morgan Monroe is more even throughout the range. I know what you mean about thin sounding but this un sounds damned good. I got it from Indiana Strings and Mike there said MM had changed some production stuff - maybe thats sorted any probs that there may have been. Trina - I'll tuck them up safely in bed tonight with no means of contraception. Answer: congrats! Answer: Congrats again!Very pretty with that abalone trim. Answer: Much better! :thu: -A Answer: Much better! :thu: -A pshht Answer: Congrats! Morgan Monroe has a very good finish, generally high quality. Glad you are happy. Answer: thanks again Bernie and totamus - now THATS my sorta goat lol Answer: I am really happy for you! I had the very same model for a short time. Beautiful to look at, but the tone was horrible. Dead and compressed sounding. Tried every combination of strings, pins, etc. Could not get it to sound anything like an all solid, forward shifted dread. I really wanted to like it. Ended up selling it on eBay. I wrote it off as being a bad example of what by all accounts is a good guitar. Glad you got a good one. Vintage style goats for you!! :thu: Answer: Wow!...looks like a really nice git. Congrats! Here's a happy goat for ya! Answer: Nice to see yet another new axe on the acoustic forum. Congratulations. Answer: I'm overcome with goats - thanks all!. Just a footnote to this guitar ( and I assure you I have nothing to do with Morgan Monroe etc - sadly for me I'm a dentist lol ). She went to my luthier yesterday, he's one helluva guy who shows such love for guitars when he works on them its uncanny. Anyway - he set her up beautifully with a bit of bridge adjustment, truss rod tweaking and some minor fret filing around 15 - 18 ( which he assured me needs done on even really high end gits ), and a set of Erinie Ball Earthwood 11's.Now this guy is a pro musician, gigs with a blues band and is a simply awesome player. I asked him to play the MM, a D-16RGT, and a GC-MMV together. Cutting a long story short we both preferred the MM - it was better rounded and to us more defined tho obviously not as forceful as the Martins. I was stunned tbh until he took out his Eric Clapton sig Martin and blew every other git outta the water with it lol. Anyway - thought you all might be interested in a "pros" opinion on the MM M-50, seems like its a lotta guitar for the money ( or maybe I just got lucky with this one! ). Answer: HNGD :thu: hehe at first glance I thought that light reflection was some whacky finish  Answer: Answer: That is awesome looking! If it sould half as good as it looks... It's a winner! Answer: Happy NGD! The guitar looks great :thu: Obligatory plug for ;) Answer: Congratulations. Tuesday's Anecdote.? post rock/pop tunes with pedal steel? Phillies 20 Cardinals 2?
