Ry Cooder told me, 'You got good ears' ...

Question:
... when I phone-interviewed him yesterday for a couple of pieces soon to be appearing in The Word and Guitarist magazine to celebrate the release of his SERIOUSLY WONDERFUL new album 'I, Flathead.' I asked him what guitars he'd used on the record and he mentioned his 'mutant Strat' (the one with the old Bigsby 'Rickenbacker-style' horshoe pickup), his Guyatone 'surf guitar' and a Gretsch 6120. I mentioned that I'd figured that he was using a Bigsby-equipped hollowbody electric, either a Gibson or a Gretsch, miked up acoustically on one of the tracks (Steel guitar Heaven), because it sounds like he's playim an archtop acoustic but at the end you hear him leaning on the Bigsby.
'You got good ears,' he said. I was flattered!
Watch for both pieces in about six weeks ...

Answer:
Did he tell you what he was actually playing? ;)
