Im afraid the asian scene isnt that sophisticated to differentiate between quality of music and pure talent and sugary pop bhangra yet!

yeh i hear yah..bhangra scene is sohpisticated you have to look for the right music. check gurdass man, arif lahor, rip surjit bindrakhia, master salem, has raj hans. Even jazzy b has made some pop punjabi songs which i dont really like. But allways stayed to his punjabi audience. Bhangra is a form of dance. that song that dude sang has nothing to do with bhangra. its like a raggee song or something with punjabi lyrics. Stuff like this is ruining the culture for what bhangra stands for.

i disagree with you this is how music evolves to reach he new generation - majority of the younger generation prefer hip hop and RnB so bhangra has to entice and interest this generation which is what the new breed of artists are doing.
yeah the old school artists like the ones you mentioned are still there but they dont appeal to youngsters any more. so to keep something alive you have to reinvent it!!

this might be the trend in the UK. here in the NYC you will never hear any one pumping anything of that sort. still to this day NY djs mix beats. but they still have orginal punjabi insturments playing in the back.. rather then the whole song playing with a raggee beat. music does change, but if your going to just play hip hop beats all together and have some guy who doesnt how to say some words in punjabi right? where is the music in that. your missing the whole point in listening to a song. Just listen to sean paul all or some other raggee artist.

WOW you guys in NYC really need to relax - its just music and you know what i think the classics still are around becuse they're good and the sugary ones are the flavour of the month - but sometimes you need to mix it up and listen to it all and have fun.
