Yeah but they dont even Credit the original stories. Samay-The Time Strikes is copied from a Book by american Auther.. the book name is someting like MindHunters and There is a new movie came out on it. Badshaah is copied from a Hollymood movie and that movie was shot in Goa,India too.
Few of my own experince(spelled wrong i think) watching these movies like. Badshaah. Start with the 1995 real-time Johnny Depp thriller "Nick of Time". Shift locations from Los Angeles to Goa. While you're at it toss in a steaming pile of Bondish gadgetry as well. As Bollywood films cannot function with just a single plotline, toss in a mistaken identity subplot, some romantic tunes, and give the hero an ailing mother. Then get Shahrukh Khan as the lead, Amrish Puri as the bad guy, and Johny Lever as the utterly redundant comedic sidekick. And viola! You have a confused disaster like "Baadshah" (King) which will still make enough money in India's villages to deliver a decent ROI.
Baazigar(1997) copied from A Kiss From Dying(1991)
After killing her sister, a guy moves on to court a girl worth a lot of "dough" for whatever motive he has in his evil brain.
Main Hoon Na(2004) copied
Never Been Kissed(1999)
Main Hoon Na [2004]A person goes back to school undercover as part of his/her job. And then things get complicated. Here's a BollyCat style credit role for "Main Hoon Na" (I'm here for you)...
Shahrukh Khan = Drew Barrymore
Susmitha Sen = Michael Vartan
Army = Newspaper
Guarding an officer's daughter = Writing an undercover story
Protagonist's brother who studies there = Protagonist's bro who lands there
Trust Farah Khan to convert a chick flick to a Masala Movie!
Mohabattein(2000) copied from Dead Poet's Society(1989)
Both movies revolve around this whole thing about over-pressured college kids who are being pursuaded by this one unorthodox teacher to go against the flow, break the shackles of status-quo and do something different... as in poetry for the original, and love in the BollyCat.
I wish I had teachers like that... who change lives, one at a time. ;)
Oh yes, and I really love to point this one out... Both schools have red color coats as part of the uniform... coincidence? I guess the Indian screenwriters thought "Why not the coat color too? To hell with originality!"
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai(1998) copied from Sleepless in Seattle(1993)
Similar plot lines, a widower who needs a new wife according to those around him. A young kid who wants a mom, and goes to great lengths (like leaving home and going to look for the girl so he/she can hook 'em up) to get her. And then there's the thing about one of the characters going on national T.V. (radio in the original) to find another
Sorry for listing SRK movies but i heard SRK only works with original, have look at thoes how original are they. I have seen all of these movies.
