groening has done it again!

Question:
Just had to say for futurama fans, the season 3 boxset is another winner, been laughing for an hour now, such a shame the series was cancelled in theu.s. but at least there are a few more series still be be committed to dvd.
Great commentaries feature again on this boxset as with the first and second seasons.
That's all

Answer:

Well actully only 1 more season left to be released on DVD:(
I hope to pickup season 3 later this month...
Answer:

What About S5 then?
Answer:

The S3 boxset contains episodes from the broadcast series 4. In fact it contains all but one broadcast series 4 episode. Fox in the US was in the habit of pulling Futurama for any reason they could find (they didn't like the show as they didn't have ownership of it like The Simpsons, IIRC) so they made like the Beeb and dropped it from the schedules whenever some crappy sports event happened. So that means after this boxset only one episode of season 4 and all of season 5 remain to be committed to DVD.
Answer:

In the U.S Fox paid for 4 seasons of episodes but due to lots of reasons, Fox kept delaying the tramission of epsidoes so each season was made shorter. This resulted in a collection of episodes which were left after the 4th season which Fox then grouped together and transmitted as the 5th season. However the DVD boxsets are the actual production seasons which is why there will only be 4 seasons of DVD's. This is also the reason why each season of Futurama on DVD has more episodes than when season 3 was shown on TV.
So only 1 more season to come:eek:
Answer:

So how many eposides in total ?
Answer:

:(

IMO better than any season of the Simpsons.

And that's why the R1 Futurama Sets are called (Volumes) and not Seasons!:dork:
Answer:

just been checking epguides for this...
http://www.epguides.com/Futurama/
Never realised how funked up Fox's schedule was!
Just compared my newly arrived boxset thanks for prompt delivery on release date Play! with the ep listing and it is way out ... Just for once I am gald the boxsets are in production order not airdate order!
As far as I can tell we are due another 18 episode boxset to finish up the series...

I guess it's a bit like The Simpsons only with added :dork: and poorer characters.

Good to here its great. Should be coming through my door tomorrow

Answer:

I've watched series 2 to death, and with series 1 on laon to my bro atm i'm having to wait for series 3 to pop through the door :(
Absolutely brilliant show :notworthy

Got this today and have just laughed my way through Disc Ones audio commentaries. Just found one of the announced Easter Eggs for disc one, on 'A Tale of Two Santas' you can listen to the entire 'Table Read' (a read through with cast/directors) that lasts 70mins! Great stuff.
Not sure about everyone else but I'm still not keen on the outer sleeve for the boxset, all of mine are far too tight and damage the box when sliding them on/off :(
Answer:

Also, call me stupid if you want (i'm just asking for it!) but its only with Season 3 that i've realised by placing vols 1-4 next to each other (the individual cases) you create one big picture! Just checked out Season 1&2 and they're the same
Answer:

Gah, thats ruined my day :) I ended up buying the series one from US after people told me it was pretty much the same box-wise as our R2 version, but its different, going to have to buy R2 series 1 now ;)

I didn't know about the covers till I read this thread!
Answer:

Hey how about a heads up on how to get the Easter eggs :)
in spoilers for those who like random button pushing of course :)
Also is it a big picture with or without the slip covers?
What about a release date for S4 :)
Answer:

Well I found 2 Easter Eggs on Disc One, here is what you have to do.
Unused Opening Captions (4:18mins)
In the sub-menu for 'Amazon Women In The Mood' simply press left & then Enter from the 'Play Episode' option
Tale of Two Santas Table Read (70:34mins)
In the sub-menu for 'A Tale of Two Santas' simply press right & then Enter from the 'Play Episode' option

I don't think I was very clear earlier :) What I meant is, if you take the 4 individual armaray cases from Season 3 and place them next to eachother (in order) you'll make one big picture. The same is true for Seasons 1 & 2.
What about a release date for S4 :)
I wish I had one for you, but sadly I don't :(

Well i'm not 100% sure since i only have the outter slip case/box for S1 but i don't THINK the individual cases match up for R1.....i mgiht be wrong though. I prefer the region 1 box size since it is the same size of the Simpsons box sets, and the individual amarays are ultra slim which i think is cool :) Artwork isn't as good as R2 tho i dont think.
Answer:

gah double post
Answer:

Is it me, or are those round things you put the DVDs in (you know, the things that go through the middle hole) the worst ones ever? It's a battle to get them in, it really is.
In other news, I'm on disc three now. Brilliant episodes so far, and entertaining commentary (though John DiMaggio's laugh gets on my nerves a bit).
Answer:

I'm also not a fan of those spindles on the cases, its very easy to not put the discs in properly and then find them loose when you pick them out on a later date.
I've been jumping around the discs a little as i've already seen the episodes, and was very pleased to hear Matt Groening recommend Stephen Chow's "God of Cookery" on the 30% Iron Chef episode...as that film has always come to mind when i see the game show at the end of said episode.
Answer:

excellent set, and noone's pointed out (to the best of me knowledge) that it has a play all feature!!!!! i'm sure that none of the other fox seasons have this (annoying on the simpsons iirc) but disc 2 at least has play all!!!!!!!
Answer:

Have you noticed how S1, and S2 box sets look in place next to each other on the shelf but S3 does not as it has a different outcase.
Answer:

Well i took the plunge and ordered all 3 seasons from cdwow during the week.
I'm really hoping they turn up tomorrow!! :) (well seasons 1 and 2 anyway, season 3 out of stock at the moment and on backorder :( )
Answer:

Superb series, much better than the simpsons if you ask me (simpsons is still very good though!). If only Fox realised this. :(
The commentaries are some of the best that i have ever heard.
Not to mention the best character ever... HYPNO TOAD!!
Answer:

So, is this the best set so far? I can't decide for the life of me which set to buy.
Answer:

Agree about HYPNO TOAD. Had me crying with laughter.

I'm sure they realise this but i'm sure futurama costs more than the simpsons to make with a lot less viewers:oh-hum: The animation in futurama is amazing - i love how it combines cgi with animation.:notworthy

There are a wealth of cell shaders available for Lightwave and Max. They're rather fun to play with :dork:

Quite scary, too.
But Zoidberg's 'woop' noises are better.

A classic TV series and the DVD's are well worth the money. I watch TV shows repeatedly on DVD more often than films. Looking forward to the final season DVD.

Me too. Here's hoping they devote a bit of time to a retrospective on the series. Interviews with the voice talent and the creators would be nice.
PS. Found another egg. After pressing right on the main menu of A Tale of Two Santas and highlighting the screen, press up and a Santa hat will appear on the upper right corner. It takes you to a special message from producer David X. Cohen (5 mins)

I can't actually get either of your eggs to work :( It highlights the little picture next to the 'Play Episode' button but then sends me to a screen in French that mentions pressing the >| button, but that just bumps me back to episode one. Do you know what title both extras are on so I can just do it manually?
Another easter egg on Disc one...
X-Mas Message from David X. Cohen
In In the sub-menu for 'A Tale of Two Santas', press right from the 'Play Episode' option, and then up . A christmas hat will appear. Press enter.
Edit: Just too late with that easter egg :) If only I hadn't stopped to watch it first ;)
Answer:

What about a commentary for season 4 on the 'Where No Fan Has Gone Before' episode featuring the Trek cast who gave their voices!
Agreed with other sentiment here, Futurama is a brilliant series. Only watched 4 eps so far as also got DS9 and B5 to watch, but always crack up when Zoidburg enters the room dressed as Jesus in 'Tale Of Two Santas'
Paul
Answer:

DavidMcGowan - the extras are on titles 20 & 21 respectively :)
Thanks for pointing out the other one, didn't notice that.

Thanks - turns out my cheap DVD player I bought for university is just causing problems - once I load the disc up, and it's got through all the copyright notices, it immediately chooses to 'play all' episodes, shows the French title explaining the 'play all' feature, and won't let me access either of those easter eggs - even if I manually choose to go to titles 20 & 21, the player just kicks me back to the French play all message and resumes episode one.
But, I've checked it on my laptop's DVD drive and it's all working fine - so thanks for your help and for finding the eggs in the first place!

Since production has ended on Futurama I think we will lucky to get any commentaries for the next boxset considering the team who made it has now disbouded so it would be quite hard but not impossible to get them all back to do commentaires and it's not like Fox gives a damn...

I saw an interview that stated the commentarys for the final eps have been done.
Answer:

That's good news then, hopefully a few documentry's with the team would be nice as well.
Answer:

Don't suppose anyone else is missing Disc 3, are they? :| Merrily watching along, open box 3 and the disc isn't there. FFS. Have to contact Play tomorrow, then.
Answer:

What do you know, i start a post that gets all of these replies and then i have to send my boxset back to play.com due to blocking. I hoped it would be just one episode but the first disc was riddled with it. Looks like i have to wait for a replacement. Back to family guy boxset i go.
Answer:

I'm having problems with my wharfdale 750. Doesn't like playing the episodes (after the menu) and freezes the player. The disks are fine in my xbox though.
