Answer:

Hmm, worst disc in my collect?
Four immediately spring to mind:
Caberat - No Subtitles
Time Bandits - No Subtitles
Pretty Woman: Special Edition - Doesn't actually work in my main DVD player.
Breakfast At Tiffany's - Poor picture quality, no extras whatsoever.
Maybe include The Searchers because of the incorrect framing which recently came to light.
I try and weed out poor dics with better transfer when available. I recently replaced First Blood & Flash Gordon with the French releases. (I have a player where I can remove French Subs)
Answer:

Three Men and a Little Lady - it's 4:3 pan & scan. :gag: :oh-hum:
Answer:

City of the Lost Children the dubbed only version. :oh-hum:
I also got the non remastered version of The Elephant Man, which was an honest mistake.
Answer:

The non anamorphic, flipper, snapper of Goodfellas. I can't wait for the SE.
Answer:

Silkwood, because my mum said it was good :dork: Thankfully I've just got rid of it on fleabay

You'll have to I'm afraid. It's at least not until November, and guaranteed to be delayed yet again, so probably next year.
One of the earliest DVDs released and biggest atrocity, and yet it's taking the longest time to sort it out. I still feel sorry for people in HMV who pick it up for next to nothing thinking they've got a bargain :oh-hum:.
Answer:

Last Exit To Brooklyn R4; turned it off because the picture quality was really, really bad.
Answer:

i got the first release of True Romance, no extra features, doesn't even have a menu at the start up. It's probably my most watched DVD EVER though
the only one i have that seems to have a poorer picture than the others is Blue Velvet
Answer:

Wild wild west
Need I say more?

The menu's there, you just have to press the menu button! :D
It's typical of many Warner titles where it dumps you straight into the film. It's also typical of Warner back-catalogue stuff to be in an awful snapper case and be bare-bones :oh-hum:.
Still, it was a resonable picture, anamorphic and DD5.1... ah, but they got their left and rights mixed up .
Oh well, some guy bought it off me on ebay for £10, so I don't think I made a loss :D.
Answer:

Avengers - the movie - diabolical!
Answer:

I temporarily owned the american dubbed Subway - soon sold that for a profit on eBay.
Now it's probably a collection of Louise music videos (competition prize )
Answer:

For the film - Deep Blue Sea or The Allnighter.
For the disc - New Statesman 1st Series, no extras whatsoever (admittedly not unusual for an oldish TV series) and a sound cock-up in the second epsiode (on both copies I tried). Total crap.

I used to own Goodfellas. I also once picked up the flipper of Jackie Brown about a year before the special edition came out. I got shot of them by putting them on ebay!
Answer:

Sliding Doors R3, really had ghosting for some reason.
Life, just not very funny.
The Insider, saw it at the cinema but haven't watched it once on DVD.
Answer:

Worst disc at present:
Probably Dogtanian & The 3 Muskahounds
Bad Buys in the past:
28 Days Later 1/10
The Talented Mr Ripley -10/10 (in my top 10 worst "films" ever)
High Fidelity -20/10 (so damn boring, worse than TTMR above)
Answer:

Driller killer - filmed on a cheap video camera, trnasfer done by stevie wonder....
Answer:

Lexx 1.1 AND 1.2 - the forum rules don't allow me to accurately express my feelings about these discs.
Answer:

Surely some DVDs on the Hollywood DVD label are pretty terrible?
Answer:

The Klaus Kinski version of Jack the Ripper. Ghosting, compression, P&S oh, and a deeply, deeply crap film. Even as a collector of all things Jack the Ripper I had to let this one go. A truly terrible waste of plastic.
Answer:

Starship Troopers flipper

Class film in a so bad it's good kind of way. Did you get the R0 with the "stoned out my head" Ferrara commentary? :D
Answer:

Demons in my Head
Its supposed to be a horror film but its a load of aussie actors so poor they got rejeced from neighbours with a script from crossroads and the effects done by some trained monkeys in a woodshed.
So bored switched it off after 40 minutes. Thats what you get for buying a film for 4 quid!
Answer:

Blair Witch :oh-hum:
Answer:

For the poor quality of the film I'd have to go for The Mummy Returns. I really do need to get rid of this film sometime soon as it's just not good at all in my opinion.
Answer:

Someone gave me a free copy of Dudley Do Right in a trade for no apparent reason. Suffice to say, I haven't watched it after looking at the trailer.
Answer:

The only one I can think for the film is sphere. I think the disc is ok but the film went rubbish in the last five minutes. It was fine until then.
For the disc I would have to say Taxi 1. The films are good but the first one is non anamprphic with huge 'widescreen TV unfriendly' subtitles. I had to move the picture up the screen in zoom mode to see the subtitles and then it crops the top of the image. I was glad to only pay £4.49 for it.
Answer:

For worst picture quality, R1 'Memphis Belle'. It looks absolutely terrible but has a great 5.1 remix so I can live with it. My worst disc overall is 'Blade Runner' R2. It has no themed menus, just a bland screen with the Warner logo, and no extras. It doesn't even have a 5.1 mix on it. Thank God the picture's anamorphic though (it also looks better than the R1 version). There have been some crap movies that I've bought 'blind' over the years, but I'm always getting rid of movies that I don't want, so I haven't been stuck with a stinker for a long time.
Answer:

Barring obvious Pan and Scan hack jobs and £5 budget labels, I would have to say 'Red Planet'. It can't be that bad I thought as I bought it second hand for £8.......oops:gag:
Answer:

Worst disc is " Unspeakable (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0259077) " and it really is UNSPEAKABLE!!! its the most atrocious film in my collection by far!!! :)
Answer:

Wag The Dog. Appalling picture quality.
Answer:

Charlie's Angels - I still don't know why I bought it, a complete and utter waste of time.
Answer:

The Matrix
Doc Hollywood
and halfway to including MoonStruck. I got halfway through it, was interrupted, and have never been inclined to try it again. :|
Disc-wise, 'Dogma' and 'Swingers' I picked up again as SE's less than 6 months after buying...
Answer:

Fear Dot Com...i think i had that for about a day what a load of :gag:
Now - worse one would have to be....The Cell...:brickwall
Answer:

Robocop3...but I didn't have a choice in the matter! (I bought the trilogy 3 disc set).
Answer:

Carry On Up The Khyber - funny film (one of the two best in the series with Carry On Cleo) but a really terrible transfer. I only paid a fiver for it but I think that I wuz robbed!
Answer:

Probably my Watership Down dvd. Picture wobbles all over the place. It's like watching jelly.
Answer:

"Guardian" - an awful, awful film and a crap disc. In extenuation, it was a review disc.
Answer:

My Carlton issued The Eagle Has Landed, probably one of the best of the UK made WWII movies of the 1970's completely ruined by the worst DVD ever made
Lousy grainy picture
Pan and Scan 4:3 :nono:
Washed out colour :gag:
Crap sound :brickwall
It looks like a VHS recording someone did off the tv on a windy day and left the tape in a box of magnets for twenty years before transferring to a DVD.
Pirate DVD's are better quailty than this.... so I have heard :suspect:
I only hope that this poor pathetic excuse for a DVD gets a replacement soon, surely this couldn't have been the only print available for it?
Oh yes and six quid - I wuz robbed!

I saw it in a private showing at the cinema and was blown away. Not only was it lost on dvd in sheer scale and sound, but i bought R! which was cut to an R (uk 15) whereas it was released as an 18 in good old blighty.
Damn it

Answer:

This is a tie between
House - The "Non Achor Bay" version. I Bought it because I loved the movie when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I've seen pirate videos with better picture quality. The movie is :gag:
One-Armed Boxer II - Bought on the recommendation of Michael Brooke. Truly, one man's treasure is another man's trash.

For the hearing impaired. No subtitles rather spoils their ability to enjoy the film.

But you could say that about 100s of DVDs that lack HoH subs. Not good, but I wouldn't say it makes it one of the worst discs just because of that.

Wild Things R2... :norty:

I guess it depends on your definition of worst?
I can't enjoy these discs. Therefore they are the worst discs I own. Even films with bad transfers I can enjoy if they have subs.
Out of a collection of about 300 DVDs, these are the only ones I own without subtitles.
My DVD rating goes in this priority: Anamorphic, Subtitles, Decent Transfer, Digital Sound (5.1 as appropriate), Commentaries, Documentaries.
I won't buy discs unless they satisfy the first three requirements. There are exceptions like the Abyss. Don't see an anamorphic edition in the near future.
I admit that the Cabaret and Time Bandits discs are excellent in every other respect.
For clarification purposes it is my Wife that is hearing impaired. Just in case anyone reads my Audio Commentary thread or comments on DTS vs DD. I can actually hear okay.

If your still interested in the film check out the VERY good VIP (Swiss) release of this title. I believe this can be obtained in the US (DVDBoxOffice have it in stock).
Worst DVD in my collection - Def bt Temptation, poor film even by Troma's usual standards which has gone all the way through so 'bad its good' to 'so bad its bad'.
Scott
Answer:

have to agree on goodfellas shame as an excellant movie infact one of my favs.
Answer:

My copy of The Stendhal Syndrome from Dutch Film Works. Sourced from a VHS tape. :brickwall
Answer:

Cobra - I remember when I was very young thinking this movie was good, until I watched it again recently. The DVD is awful as well

Just didn't like it as much as some people......so I define that as a weaker title in my collection.
Answer:

R1 - Last House on the Left. What a piece of garbage !
Answer:

watched that the other day and am still trying to figure out exactly what could have justified and banning/censorship in that film as it's tamer than an episode of BTVS.
Answer:

Has to be Lost In Space.
An abysmal movie - I don't know what I was thinking.
And I bought it the day I came out.
Lola is another stinker. Introduced by Tony Curtis even though he isn't in it and has no relation to it.
Although he is standing in front of a glowing make up mirror wearing Michael Jackson gloves, which goes someway to repairing the damage.
Answer:

Disc - the original Anchor Bay R1 Straw Dogs was pretty poor.
Film - Last House On The Left - bought to see what all the fuss was about.
Answer:

The Entertainment in video release of
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER
Not only is it a crappy film (why did i buy it???) but the DVD stinks. It has nothing (and i mean nothing) but the film and I think I watched half of it once. I has sat on my shelf ever since

My god what a load of old *********!!!!!!
Apparently the book was very good though??

Their disk of Powell & Pressburger's glorious A Canterbury Tale is actually very good - it would have been nice to have subs, since the sound (probably because of its age) muddies some of the dialog occasionally, but the transfer is fine; definately worth six quid, especially as it is the only version.
