Answer:

Recently saw it and thought it had potential, but all the action scenes were directed so badly as to completely ruin the flow of the film. Not worth spending your money on, but gives you a few good laughs.
Answer:

It weren't a keeper for me, but I very much enjoyed it for all it's worth. As a bit of light entertainment it scores very highly IMO.
Sean Pertwee is great in it!! :D
Answer:

There will be no trashing of Dog Soldiers round here, that movie is utter class.
"They're not gonna EDITED fit!"
"Well, that's bloody charming, that is"
Please check the T&Cs with regards to masked swearing.
Answer:

Yeh but weve seen it all before..we need something original for British movies cos we cant pull off the special effects that Hollywood can. I had high hopes for this but it was a chore to sit thru ..
Answer:

Cack - but not as cack as the overly hyped 28 Days Later :gag:

Writer/Director Neil Marshall talks to CLINT MORRIS about his globally acclaimed horror hit "Dog Soldiers", the story of a group of British soldiers who find themselves the prey of a pack of werewolves in the Scottish wilderness.
Since it’s release the rumour mill went into overdrive with buzz about a possible sequel and ultimate “Dog Soldiers” trilogy. “That was the idea at the beginning. But in order to get “Dog Soldiers” made I had to sell all my rights (remake, sequel etc) to the U.S, so now I’ve got no control over anything like that. There was talk of a sequel with the producers, but not now”.
And I am sure I read somewhere else that it was conceived with a trilogy in mind.
Answer:

I quite enjoyed it to.:D
Answer:

Well i bought i blind based on the reviews/word of mouth and I'm not unhappy with the purchase. Good entertaining film with some very funny moments in it
for example their reaction to the cow falling out of the sky  and the bloke going mental at one of the werewolves at the end 'hope i give you the *****...' :D

Sounds similar to The Matrix..... its released by itself and as soon as it becomes a huge hit its suddenly "it was always meant to be a trilogy" :)

Tizza,

Just watched dog soldiers and Im embarrassed that a fellow geordie wrote and directed this!
Oh come on, Dog Soldiers was a fun movie. It's good to see a British director making a film that people enjoy. As a fellow Geordie you should be proud that he's gone out there and made a film that still has it's Northern roots. How many other Geordies do you see kicking the ..... out of a werewolf?
And they wonder why very few British films get made..I could have wrote better on the back of a poscard!!
But where will you send your postcard?
Some films are just for enjoyment and Dog Soldiers is an excellent example of what is possible on a very limited budget. As a Geordie I also back anybody from up here who gets off their backsides and gets a film made.
chet (rant over :) )
Answer:

I thought it started off very slow and was getting a bad vibe from it as I couldn't make out what it was trying to be or what it was trying to do, but after about 30 mins it found its ground and I really enjoyed it :)
It's very tongue in cheek and shouldn't be taken seriously at all. The two funniest moments for me were.....
When your man is there in the woods with all his guts spilling out and the other guy says "It's okay, we'll just pop them back in"
Also, when Spoon dies and your man asks "What's up with Spoon?" and the reply is "There is no Spoon" :D Great reference to 'The Matrix'

have to agree with TIZZA this is an absolute shocker of a film,it started off quite well first 20 mins but then quickly went down hill at a fast pace one minute the wolf can tear a mans stomach out with a swipe the next thing one of the soldier is going toe 2 toe in a fist fight lmao absolutely laughable i mean a wolf 7 foot tall in a fist fight:eek::lol:
surely brit cinema hasnt got to a stage where all we can do is brit gangster flicks and touchy feely puffy crap with hugh grant playing a bumbling idiot who starts off self centered business type and ends up living in a bedsit with the women he loves lmao god i hate hugh grant GROW SOME BALLS YOU PUFF.
Answer:

Another thing is that bloke out of grafters gets on me nerves, could never get away with the fact a mokey hanger was passing himself off as a geordie, Robson Green should have gave him some geordie elocution lessons!
Still not as bad as Stephen Tomkinsons accent...what the hell was that??
A film like dog soldiers should have used more tensio , if you cant make a costume without it looking like a bloke in a hairy suit then dont show it! The way they accepted that werewolves existed was a bit..'oh ok then '
Answer:

I thought it was terrible as well, struggled to make it through to the end.
Answer:

Lock Stock and lots of Hairy Werewolves. Trash. :oh-hum:

And they say education is not as good as it used to be.
Answer:

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought this film was way overrated. Werewolves are nice, but give me The Evil Dead, An American Werewolf in London or Night of the Living Dead anyday.
Answer:

I found it disappointing, the story was okay and the acting was watchable but the dialogue was absolutely pants or bone as they would say. In saying that it's got one of the best commentries I have listerened to.
Answer:

I didn't like Dog soldiers at all. and even though some wouldn't agree: if you want a decent britflick get 28 days later!!

Answer:

Well I loved this film. Perfect film to watch with beer and a few mates. It's probably better if you saw it in the cinema, more of an atmosphere then  Can't believe people are being picky at how unrealistic it is :oh-hum: it's supposed to be tongue in cheek and a laugh ;) Give me this over the appalling 'Eight Legged Freaks' anyday :gag:
Answer:

*puts flame retardant suit on*
8legged freaks is cool, found it a lot better than dog soldiers.
maybe because the spiders looked really cool and the things in dog soldiers not.
Answer:

I really enjoyed the film, one of the funniest I've seen in recent years.

loved it & 28 days later
but thats just me though,
you see we all have different tastes?
Answer:

its the negative attitude toward brit films like this that stop distributers funding these types of efforts. So they may not have the glitz and glam of Hollywood, but at least it isnt affraid to laugh at itself.
This country needs its film industry back, not since the days that ealing studios were cranking out belters has the UK seen its film industry so good. (I may be wrong on the history part...just feeling a litle over zealous...so appologies for the inaccuracies, but you get my point)
Personaly i loved Dog Soldiers and 28 days later, and to that end My Little Eye which may not have been overtly british, was directed by Brits...its just a shame they couldnt have found the funding they needed over here.
strikes me that too many people now have been spoilt by Hollywood and the fancy special effects, true i am going to see Matrix Reloaded, but i am not going to compare it to a British film, simply because, as i said before, we dont have the industry that the states do. So Eight Legged Freaks had better effects...didnt stop it sucking big style, Dog Soldiers on the other hand, didnt have great special effects, but had a much better story line, even though when you look at them criticaly there isnt much to either of them other than kill the bad things before they kill us.
Seriously we have to support our film industry or it will die without a trace.

thought 28days later was good myself and in garry oldman, tim roth, christian baleewan mcgregor we have some of the finest actors in the world but the films themselves

Answer:

28 Days Later was fairly average (though, to be fair, had some heart-pounding moments), yet that still puts it way above Dog Soldiers.
Answer:

Nah..28 days and dog soldiers are worse than even those crappy tv dramatisations that we used to get a lot of..to think that theses movies got cinema releases ??
These sort of movies are tv fare and nothing more..they wouldnt even get good reviews if they were premiered on ITV!!
Dont blame the budget or special effects..Look for another thread for my opinion on a Hollywood film without ANY special effects!
See it can be done!
Answer:

Oh yeh.. I kept expecting Sean pertwee to wisk of in the tardis somewhere cos he looks SO much like his dad!
Answer:

burn, I don't mind supporting the local industry (being from luxembourg there is not much of one though:()
The fact is I think Dog soldiers is crap, 28days is great and 8legged freaks is much better then dog soldiers. Now I see that my above post made it look like that is only due to the effects, but believe me it's not.
It's mainly due to the fact that I found 8legged freaks to be very funny but dog soldiers a pain to watch. dogsoldiers used soo much ketchup that I would have enough for all the chips I eat for the rest of my life and that doesn't make it good. yes some of the jokes weren't bad, but overall it was disappointing.
I have lost interest in most hollywood films anyway and have lately turned to Asia for good films. (never ignoring my fellow neighbours for good films either ie germany and france)
Answer:

I liked Dog Soldiers a lot, it was 2 hours of wonderful entertainment and everybody i forced to watch it agreed.
I can't see anything wrong with it. The story wasn't worse than any other werewolf film i've ever seen (or most horror films for that matter). The actors obviously had a lot of fun making it and thats what made it even more enjoyable.
The dialogue was funny throughout, the characters were REAL, average people you would run into on a saturday night pub crawl. The humour was wonderfully tongue in cheek, it didn't take itself too seriously, and thats exactly the way the film should be approached. Not to mention the countless references.
I thought it was much more enjoyable than the usual drivel coming out of Hollywood these days.

Dog Soldiers is a little bit of fun, that's all, and fun it was. Don't know what you mean by TV fare? Was it because there were television actors in it, or was it the budget and special effects?
Answer:

If theres going to be sequals to dog soldiers made by yanks. they will EDITED it up as they always do with sequals. especially trying to follow a british film:(

absoloute rubbish film
Answer:

Blind purchase in Splash's sale and I enjoyed it :D Daft but fun. Bit disappointed with the cast commentary though -- after reading countless reviews that described it as "the best, funniest commentary ever" I didn't think it reached the standards of, say, Kevin Smith's cast commentaries. Still good mind, but not as good as was hyped ;)

Yep, I agree with that (& it saved me from having to think & write the above :D ). A good fun, low budget film. One of my better purchases this year.
Answer:

I liked Dog Soldiers definitely in the Evil Dead vein of horror and genuinely entertaining, have to say I was a bit disapointed with 28 days later as a film about zombies taking over britain I expected more of a Romero carnage slant, but it sort of ripped off Romeros sequences rather than the spirit of his films.
I liked Dog Soldiers because it had a sense of fun and carnage and the fact that it was actually made impressed me enough to give it credit ( very inspiring ).
Cradle of Fear however is a brit horror film that I reeeeally didnt enjoy though.

Im all for supporting British films if they are any good..the rest can stay in bargain bin land where they belong!
Like Michael Caine said Ill watch a British movie If its good not if its crap..and hes starred on a LOT of crap Hollywood films!
Answer:

Good old Alex Chandon - you have to give him credit for finding money even though he's never displayed the slightest bit of directoral talent at all. Anyone else remember him making a fool of himself at Shock Around The Clock ?
I do like the comedy Frenchman with the rubber genitals who gets emasculated in "Drill Bit" though.
Answer:

Tell us more about that then Mike? How did he make tube of himself?
I guess this was a film festival or sumthin??
Answer:

Chandon got hammered and was abusing a "genre directing legend"!!

Too true Tizza. I can't believe how bad this film is but I'm really shocked to hear people say they liked it or loved it even. Normally when I see a film this bad it tends to be universally derided.
They get plus points for not being a period drama, gangster flick or Romantic comedy but that really doesn't count for much
Answer:

I loved it, Sean Pertwee was just awesome
Answer:

For every person who hates a film, there will be somebody who enjoys or loves the film.
For the record, I enjoyed Dog Soldiers
It does not mean I am better or worse than somebody else, it just means that everybody is different and have different tastes.
Answer:

I thought it was dreadful... and I'm a total sucker for werewolf movies. Really disappointed as I had been looking forward to it based upon the advance press... :(
I can see why some people considered it fun, but I was under the misconception that it was supposed to be a horror movie, which it certainly wasn't. It was an action movie which just happened to have werewolves as the villains of the piece, and action movies just aren't my thing unfortunately. As jayok intimated above, different strokes for different folks etc...
