ren and stimpy - season 1 DVD set?
Question: anyone know if there were plans to release ren and stimpy series 1 on dvd? Only want the episodes John kricfalusi worked on, after he got fired it sucked. heard that there were going to be new episodes on TNN and that Kricfalusi was working on them, have these been aired yet??? Answer: No DVDs scheduled, but once the new show airs (June is the current estimate), it would be a possiblility. By the way, John K. was fired part-way through the second season, so the first two seasons (and the odd one or two from later seasons that were in the early production phases before he got the boot) are both worth buying. The Ren And Stimpy definitive 1st and 2nd Season Episode Log (http://anp.awn.com/RandSmain.txt) is a good concise source for the episodes that are worth seeing. Answer:  I quite liked Ren and Stimpy! The only episodes I remember were: 1. It was a Christmas one and they had a Christmas moose! 2. About a log! 3. Where one of the two wasn't meant to push a big red button. I think they were in space. I'd get these on DVD! Psycho  Answer: Powdered Toast Man  I'd buy the DVDs like a shot Answer: space madness was always one of my faves. the animation style was so class Answer: Originally posted by nashie space madness was always one of my faves. the animation style was so class I like all the close ups they'd do. I remember some bloke getting really stressed with Ren and Stimpy. Then it would do a close up and you'd see all the veins in his head and the hairs up his nose! Arrrrhhh! I really want to watch it now! It's been 10 years since I last saw any! :( Psycho  Answer: I have most of them on VHS, except for a couple like Rubber Nipple Salesmen and Out West that Nickelodeon UK wouldn't air. There's also the hilarious banned episode Man's Best Friend (which is allegedly what got John K. fired from the show), which I have an mpeg of. TNN have said that they'll be airing Man's Best Friend and reinstating material that was censored from other episodes. Answer: Magic Nose Goblins! Ren & Stimpy Site (http://lady_deathtouch.tripod.com/games/) Psycho  Answer: BTW John K's Super hero toon Rippin Friends is on CNX tonight at 8.30. Answer: saw an episode of ripping friends on the wkend.................was good but not classic, would not be in a hurry to watch it again but will give it a few more goes in case the series is a grower (bout time cnx started showing a few more new films as well) Answer: I have the Ripping Friends, with four episodes. I must say I am extremely disappointed. I guess it's hard for me to appreciate a satire of superhero shows, since I'm not a fan of that kind of show anyway, but I felt that the dialogue and acting were very bland, and the drawing style a lot poorer than the Ren & Stimpy style. Part of the problem, supposedly, was that much of the work was outsourced to different studios, so John K. didn't have much control over the show. Answer: Muddy Mudskipper!!!:D Answer: I worked on a Ren and Stimpy SNES game, way back just when it was becoming popular in the US. Got to see all the episodes much earlier than they were showed in the UK, which was great. My favourites: Powdered Toast Man "Leave everything to me!" Stimpy's teeth (Ought to show that episode to all school children, to make them brush their teeth :gag: ) George Liquor - censored and rarely shown on TV, as it has Ren smashing George Liquor's face with an oar in gorgeous slow motion :gag: :D Space Madness: "The beautiful red shiny button!" Answer: Stimpys invention (with the classic happy happy joy joy song) and camping one where Ren gets Beaver Feaver classic stuff Answer: The episode when Ren gives 'birth' to Stinky  and the game: "Don't Wizz on the Electric Fence" Class. Answer: Originally posted by Stephen Robertson George Liquor - censored and rarely shown on TV, as it has Ren smashing George Liquor's face with an oar in gorgeous slow motion :gag: :D I think you mean NEVER shown on TV. ;) The episode is called Man's Best Friend. Answer: Im still haunted by images from Ren & Stimpy - Ren pulling his teeth out with pliers and leaving the nerves & Stimpy marrying a fish he found in a trash can!! Answer: Originally posted by Whiggles I have most of them on VHS, except for a couple like Rubber Nipple Salesmen and Out West that Nickelodeon UK wouldn't air. There's also the hilarious banned episode Man's Best Friend (which is allegedly what got John K. fired from the show), which I have an mpeg of. TNN have said that they'll be airing Man's Best Friend and reinstating material that was censored from other episodes. rubber nipple sales man got an airing on BBC2: "no sir i don't have any use for rubber nipples, but do you have any rubber walrus protectors...." "CALLLL THE POLLICCCEEE" ....................... Answer: Originally posted by Psycho I like all the close ups they'd do. I remember some bloke getting really stressed with Ren and Stimpy. Then it would do a close up and you'd see all the veins in his head and the hairs up his nose! Arrrrhhh! I really want to watch it now! It's been 10 years since I last saw any! :( Psycho  yea that was my fave part of the show when they'd suddenly show incredibly detailed and quite disturbing closeups. the more i talk about this show, the more i need it on dvd! lol Answer: We need to petition Paramount (provided they still have the rights to video releases, that is). Answer: Originally posted by nashie yea that was my fave part of the show when they'd suddenly show incredibly detailed and quite disturbing closeups. the more i talk about this show, the more i need it on dvd! lol I had a dream about them last night! I need the DVD... NOW!! Psycho  Answer: The thought of the episode where Ren has no teeth and Stimpy pulls out his dangling nerves, still makes my eyes water. Answer: One of my favourites was the one where Stimpy got addicted to playing with his belly-button, eventually he went inside it, to an absolutley fantastic psychedelic soundtrack:nuts: Answer: What about the episode about ***** and stimpy was looking after it:gag: It was weird. The roots and veins animation was cool Answer: One of my favourites was the one where Stimpy got addicted to playing with his belly-button, eventually he went inside it, to an absolutley fantastic psychedelic soundtrack :notworthy :notworthy how could i forget that episode, the look of guilty pleasure on his face when he played with his belly button was classic Answer: I loved the L.O.G. ads! Have downloaded some stuff... "no sir i don't have any use for rubber nipples, but do you have any rubber walrus protectors...." "CALLLL THE POLLICCCEEE" You've just reminded me of that sir!!!! HILARIOUS, but VERY unsettling too when the walrus says that...lol! Answer: "...do you have any rubber walrus protectors...."Umm, I could do with one of those. :suspect: Answer: The ep when Ren became a hermit and he made a Stimpy replacement from his belly-button lint is my all-time favourite. The scene when the flesh melts from his hand leaving just the bones was soooo trippy. If I just had that one episode on dvd I'd be very happy. Answer: Originally posted by GregB Powdered Toast Man  w00t! or should that be w0000000000000000t ? (in a low then higher squeeky pitch aimed directly at the toast) :D Answer: If you'd asked me before I'd read this thread how many episodes of Ren & Stimpy I'd seen, I'd have only thought of a couple (the "teeth" one will never leave my mind)... scary how many I recognise though from the summaries on here! I guess I must have switched onto it more times than I thought, while in a "tired and emotional" state of mind... Would definitely pick up a DVD of these... Answer: I would honestly say that it's the best cartoon of the second half of the 20th century. I hope the new shows are as good. PS. Anyone notice that Ren & Stimpy always coincides with conflict in the Gulf? Answer: Originally posted by gregmetcalfe You've just reminded me of that sir!!!! HILARIOUS, but VERY unsettling too when the walrus says that...lol! its genius, the more i think about the show the more i need to get it on dvd, i'd forgotten the episode where ren pulls his teeth out until it was mentioned on here. some of the closeup detailed images of rens gums were disturbing. genius stuff. "No sir, I don't like it!" Answer: PS. Anyone notice that [i]Ren & Stimpy always coincides with conflict in the Gulf? [/B] I have now noticed it! :suspect: Psycho  Answer: 26th June - new episodes!! http://lady_deathtouch.tripod.com/ Answer: Originally posted by Whiggles PS. Anyone notice that Ren & Stimpy always coincides with conflict in the Gulf? Speaking of which, I remember reading about an unproduced episode which was to feature Mr Horse going to fight in Iraq. :D Answer: Just found an on-line petition to get Ren & Stimpy on DVD: Ren & Stimpy Petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/RSRonDVD/) Psycho  Answer: Originally posted by Psycho Just found an on-line petition to get Ren & Stimpy on DVD: Ren & Stimpy Petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/RSRonDVD/) Psycho  just signed it, theres a lot of signatures and yet i have visited several ren and stimpy sites today and not found any reference to this petition which is odd and not a very effective way of helping to get the signatures needed.... Answer: My favourite episode I remember from the telly was when they went digging for gold - it sticks in the mind for some reason :) I have one of the vhs tapes where they become fire-dogs and also dress as monkeys in the zoo! :D "I'm gonna be a monkey, monkey monkey monkey..." Answer: the episode where Ren gets his pec implants, makes it as a hollywood bigshot and forgets his old friend stimpy but stimpy being stimpy when he see's that ren has made the big time and has got everything he always wanted it brings tears of joy in his eyes...................well lets just say i to almost got misty eyed there too for awhile Answer: There seem to be Ren and Stimpy DVD's for sale on eBay! :suspect: Psycho  Answer: Originally posted by Psycho There seem to be Ren and Stimpy DVD's for sale on eBay! :suspect: Psycho  Definitely fakes, but they're probably the best way to get the episodes currently.
